By now we’re all aware that the pandemic has brought about a permanent paradigm shift in the way people work. Remote work has become the new normal for how employees carry out everyday tasks, and organizations have had to make many changes and adjustments to enable business-continuity. And those changes have exposed many challenges for managing secure remote devices and securely accessing digital resources, including business-critical apps.

Many businesses had difficult decisions to make, and one of those decisions was how employees would be allowed to access corporate systems. Some organizations may have quickly issued corporate devices for all of their employees to use from home. Many others decided to allow employees to use personal devices for accessing corporate data and other business-critical resources. Either way, there are challenges.

Cost and complexity are two of the biggest challenges that IT is dealing with in the shift to enabling remote work. But there’s one thing that tops both cost and ease-of-use as the #1 priority – security. A product could claim to reduce cost by 80% and eliminate management complexity, but if it weakens an organization’s security posture, that’s a non-starter.

Which is why our partnership with IGEL (Cameyo was one of the inaugural IGEL Ready partners) makes so much sense. Both IGEL and Cameyo have been architected from the ground up to greatly simplify the management of devices and apps (respectively) and reduce cost – all while increasing your organization’s security.

Secure Endpoints

IGEL provides the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces. They provide extreme CAPEX hardware cost savings, sharply reduce ongoing operating expenses, and a enable more secure and manageable endpoint management across nearly any device.

Simply put, IGEL makes security simpler. By converting any compatible device into a fully functioning read-only cloud workspace, you immediately minimize endpoint attack surfaces, whether on licensed endpoints or on users’ own devices.

Securing Application Delivery

Cameyo Virtual App Delivery platform securely delivers all their business-critical apps to any device, from the browser, so that your people can stay productive from anywhere without compromising your corporate network or data. Cameyo’s ground-up approach to security includes:

  • Zero Trust – Cameyo’s Zero Trust design prevents users from carrying threats into your network, regardless of their device.
  • Browser Isolation – Application sessions take place in the browser eliminating the risk of malware from the end user’s device impacting your network.
  • Reduced Attack Surface – Cameyo’s single architecture and RDP/HTTP Port Shield Technology significantly reduces your attack surface without 3rd party tools.
  • No VPNs – Cameyo’s NoVPN technology enables users to securely access internal web apps via any browser from behind the firewall while keeping devices separate from the corporate network.
  • Port Shield – Cameyo’s Port Shield protects RDP and HTTP/S ports from brute force and ransomware attacks.

Regardless of your organization’s approach to enabling remote work now and in the future, together IGEL and Cameyo provide an in-depth security schema that ensures safe boundaries between any device and your corporate network & data. And all that security doesn’t come with a hefty price tag or deployment/management burden. Both IGEL and Cameyo enable you to be up and running in minutes – not weeks – while dramatically reducing the costs associated with delivering secure remote work.

At this point in the ongoing pandemic, almost every organization has had to adopt and rely on some level of new technology solutions just to ensure they can continue to carry out business-critical activities with a highly distributed workforce. MSPs Remote Work Blog Post

Many of these organizations rely on managed service providers (MSPs) to deliver and manage those technology solutions for their business. And the pandemic has made the role of the MSP more strategic than ever.

MSPs have had to step up to the challenge of enabling software delivery at a larger scale, with great flexibility, while also providing more options to their customers.  How is virtual app delivery helping MSPs to meet these new challenges?  Let’s take a deeper look, and then zoom in to see how Cameyo’s Digital Workspace platform provides MSPs with a particularly useful solution to empower their customers’ businesses in an ever-changing world.

Traditional Options for MSPs and Customers

Traditionally, MSPs tasked with enabling customers to deliver applications to end-users had conventional virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS), or Remote Desktop Services (RDS) technologies at their disposal.  While these technologies certainly enable customers to deliver remote workers’ applications, these are often not the most efficient, flexible, or cost-effective approach.

VDI is expensive to implement, requiring dedicated virtualization environments with flash storage requirements for acceptable performance.  VDI is also a very complex technology to deliver effectively.  MSPs often find supporting VDI infrastructure time-consuming, costly, and generally overkill for customers who simply want to access Windows applications for end-users.  Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solutions have brought new options to the table. However, DaaS again may not be the best solution for customers who want to deliver access to applications for end-users in a flexible and cost-effective way.

Image of a DaaS solution for a Cameyo blog post

Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is a longstanding traditional technology that has been relied upon in the enterprise for years now.  Many MSPs have turned to RDS as a solution to enable customers to access their business applications remotely.  While RDS works and provides a familiar solution that MSPs are often comfortable leveraging, full-blown RDS infrastructure deployments can be challenging to manage for multiple customers.  Addressing customer’s security concerns and staying on top of RDP security challenges can also be extremely difficult.

Now to be fair – if your organization has a certain percentage of power users who truly need a full virtual desktop environment, then it makes sense to use VDI or DaaS for those users. But for the rest of their users who simply need secure access to all of their business-critical Windows applications on any device – there are other options.

Modern Virtual Application Delivery

There is a common theme among most customers looking to empower their remote workforce.  For many, remote workers need access to applications and not necessarily desktops.  It is an important distinction to make as MSPs can leverage more efficient and effective technologies to empower customers to meet their business needs, outside of the traditional technologies used for years.

Virtual application delivery enables the delivery of applications to the end-user without the need for a full virtual desktop.  MSPs have a strategic opportunity to identify what percentage of their customers’ users actually need full virtual desktops, and what percentage just needs virtual access to all of their critical Windows apps.  For those who just need their apps, it is highly inefficient to deliver all the necessary infrastructure to provide a full desktop session if the end-user does not need this.

Virtual application delivery allows the delivery of what customers need in a highly efficient and cost-effective way.  MSPs tasked with providing access to applications instead of desktops can leverage much more efficient infrastructure and solutions for this purpose.  It also allows MSPs to offer a much simpler, more flexible solution.

Cameyo Empowers MSPs to Simply & Securely Deliver Virtual Applications

Today, MSPs face various challenges to meet customer demands and compete in a landscape where it is becoming increasingly difficult to grow revenue and simplify application delivery.  These challenges can be summarized by the following:

  • Delivering value-added services in a cost-effective manner
  • Providing simple solutions – both from the customer experience perspective and the long-term management perspective
  • Empowering customers with flexible solutions that enable them to scale up/down based on business needs

By shifting to virtual application delivery in a world where customers are focused on remote work and access to applications, MSPs can effectively generate revenue growth and simplify the delivery of applications for customers.

Cameyo is a cloud-native virtual application delivery platform that brings Windows applications to any device through the web browser.  It does this with intrinsic simplicity and security built-in.  Cameyo for MSPs, released in March 2020, helps build profitable virtual application delivery practices while eliminating the cost and complexity of virtual desktops. Cameyo’s solution is tailored to MSPs’ needs and allows delivering Windows applications to any device.

Since Cameyo delivers applications from any HTML5 browser, there is no client-side software to install.  It eliminates the need for MSPs to manage software on potentially hundreds or thousands of end-user devices to consume virtual applications effectively.

Cameyo is also a solution MSPs can deploy in minutes, not hours or days.  The intrinsic simplicity of Cameyo for MSPs leads to further increased revenue potential, simplified provisioning, and management.  The simple delivery of virtual applications by Cameyo also transitions to the customer.  It allows easy co-management if shared with customer IT staff and fewer end-user issues accessing business-critical apps.

Key benefits of Cameyo for MSPs:

  • Simplified Management – Easily add new customers and deliver the apps they need to any devices within minutes, all from a single pane of glass in your Cameyo for MSP dashboard.
  • Reduced Cost – Eliminate the high cost of VDI licensing and deliver a more secure solution with a significantly lower cost per user.
  • Eliminate Complexity – Remove the complexity of managing VDI across multiple customer environments, and deliver seamless software updates that are completely transparent to your customers.
  • Enhanced Security – Cameyo’s solution is fully encrypted and adds a security layer by separating applications from the operating system.  All customer data is protected and private and never resides on a Cameyo server, plus your customers can lock user settings for PCI and data compliance needs.  Cameyo provides Port Shield, Layered Revert, and Session Sync for a Zero Trust approach to remote work security.
  • Easy Scalability – MSPs are not required to set up a different VDI environment for each customer.  Cameyo for MSPs lets you easily add new customers in your Cameyo dashboard and get them started in minutes, not weeks or months.

Providing Cloud Agility

Using Cameyo for MSPs provides the cloud agility they need to offer virtual application delivery to all of their customers.  MSPs can quickly get started with Cameyo with a self-hosted solution or a Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) approach.  For self-hosted solutions, Cameyo is easily installed on Windows Server 2016 and higher in an MSP data center.  After installation, using Cameyo’s admin console, MSPs can quickly add customers and start provisioning customer applications.

Screenshot of Cameyo's Digital Workspace platform
Cameyo’s easy admin console allows MSPs to quickly provision customer apps

In addition to the self-hosted solution, MSPs can take advantage of the full features and benefits of Cameyo’s cloud platform by deploying it in their own Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud environments.  It allows customers to take full advantage of the “cloud DNA” of Cameyo.  Housing Cameyo in the cloud includes the elasticity and usage optimization technologies that help to dramatically reduce cost by dynamically spinning up and down servers based on demand.  Also, Cameyo’s Session Sync technology provides data resiliency and file synchronization between sessions, providing a seamless user experience.

MSPs Benefit from Leveraging the Right Tools

To stay competitive and offer customers the right options, MSPs must use various tools and software delivery solutions.  Is one solution the “end all be all” that is right for every use case?  No.  However, virtual application delivery is exceptionally well-suited for end-users who need access to applications and not desktops.

And it’s not an either/or proposition – you can always utilize virtual desktops for the small percentage of power users who need that, and then utilize virtual app delivery to simplify (and reduce the cost of) delivery of business-critical apps to the rest of your customers’ users. For MSPs, having the right tools and leveraging the right solution for each specific customer use case grows revenue potential, improves simplicity, and provides the flexibility that customers need.

Wrapping Up

Today, MSPs are tasked with providing technology solutions for businesses to meet the challenges of a world in the grips of a global pandemic and who need to provide access to business-critical applications.  Virtual application delivery platforms like Cameyo allow MSPs to offer extremely efficient and cost-effective solutions to their customers.  It eliminates the need to provision full-blown VDI environments when desktop sessions are not needed.  It also provides a cloud-native approach to delivering a modern solution that offers elastic scalability and flexibility.

As you may have seen, this morning we announced that we’ve partnered with IGEL, joining their IGEL Ready program as a technology partner. At first glance, the announcement may seem pretty straightforward – two companies who share a mission to deliver productive digital workspaces are joining up to make it even more simple, secure, and cost-effective to deliver business-critical apps to anyone, anywhere. IGEL Ready Blog Post image

But it’s about much more than that. And we’re very excited.

Look, we all know that technology partnerships and alliances happen all of the time, for a variety of reasons. And often times, there’s not much meat behind them. But the IGEL Ready program is inherently different. Let me explain why, and why I’m so excited.

1) This is all about the customer

Unlike amorphous partner programs without a clearly defined goal, a core tenet of the IGEL Ready program is ensuring the best possible customer experience – from the initial evaluation process all the way through to the the end-user experience.

The IGEL Ready program lets customers know right from the beginning that the solutions they are evaluating have already been fully tested and verified to work with what’s already in their environment. No more evaluating and getting exciting about solutions, only to find out they aren’t going to work with something else you’ve already invested in. Cameyo and IGEL have been tested and verified to work seamlessly together, giving our joint customers the ability to deploy with confidence.

2) The world needs simple & secure solutions now more than ever

Organizations worldwide are prioritizing workspace agility and business continuity as the world shifts to long-term or permanent remote work arrangements. To ensure productivity from anywhere, companies need to provide their people with secure access to all of their business-critical applications. Many of these organizations don’t have the budgets or the IT staff necessary to manage widespread virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) or desktop as a service (DaaS) deployments, and they need a simple, secure, and cost-effective way to deliver these applications.

Cameyo’s Digital Workspace platform combined with IGEL’s secure endpoints gives any organization – from SMBs to global enterprises – the ability to enable secure, productive remote work for all of their employees within hours.

3) The IGEL team truly #BELIEVES

At Cameyo, one of our core beliefs is that if we maintain a relentless focus on serving our customers and helping to solve their most pressing problems, then we can’t go wrong. But we also believe that “relentless focus” should never come at the cost of doing business with decency, honesty, and respect. We believe both are possible.

Sure, IGEL is an industry leader in enabling cloud workspaces – but what’s more exciting for us is IGEL’s commitment to being an industry leader when it comes to advocating for a helpful and positive attitude of service. And if you haven’t seen their #BELIEVE campaign, it’s hard not to be inspired:

We BELIEVE in a servants heart; We BELIEVE in helping others; We BELIEVE in staying positive; We BELIEVE in believing.”

We’re honored to be a part of the IGEL Ready program. We’re excited about the value this brings to our joint customers, both today and in the future. But more importantly, we’re inspired to be joining a global community dedicated to helping customers and the ecosystem as a whole.

As organizations around the world adapt to the new normal – one where the concept of “internal” and “remote” employees is replaced by all employees being a hybrid – the need for Digital Workspaces to ensure productivity from anywhere is great than ever.

ASG Africa News

Which is why today we’re excited to announce that we have partnered with ASG Africa, a premier IT solutions and services provider, to make Cameyo available to all organizations throughout Africa and the Middle East. We’ve also announced that – based on our strategic integration with Microsoft Azure – all organizations who need to provide their people with secure access to Windows and internal web apps from the browser can now experience all of the benefits of Cameyo within their own instance of Azure.

What this means is that all of the premium cost-savings and performance features like elasticity, usage optimization, and Cameyo’s Session Sync and RDP Port Shield technology – which were previously only available with Cameyo’s Fully Hosted service on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – are now available to all organizations utilizing Azure.

Beginning today, ASG Africa customers can experience the following benefits of Cameyo:

  • Greater Control and Compliance – Simplified compliance for organizations in highly-regulated industries by utilizing Cameyo within their own instance of Azure.
  • Cost Savings – With Cameyo advanced provisioning, Azure customers have access to features like elasticity and usage optimization to dynamically spin servers up and down based on demand and automatically move servers into hibernation mode ensuring organizations don’t pay for 24/7 servers when they aren’t being used.
  • Enhanced User Experience – Cameyo’s Session Sync technology enables a user’s settings and files follow them from session to session, ensuring a seamless user experience. And because Cameyo enables users to experience the full desktop version of their applications directly from the browser, users’ have nothing new to learn.
  • Infrastructure Reduction – Unlike VDI which increases the infrastructure you need to manage, and therefore the cost and complexity, Cameyo’s cloud-native platform reduces infrastructure and costs by up to 80% compared to Citrix/VDI.
  • Increased Security – By separating applications from the OS and making them available via the browser, Cameyo helps ensure that malware on the user’s machine doesn’t have access to their application sessions. And Cameyo’s RDP Port Shield technology proactively protects customers from RDP vulnerabilities that can lead to brute force attacks and ransomware.

Any organization can get started with Cameyo in minutes by loading the applications they want to publish to their users to the Cameyo platform. Cameyo seamlessly integrates with Office 365, G Suite, Okta, Ping ID and most Single Sign-On (SSO) providers giving organizations the ability to manage authentication, permissions, users, and groups with no additional work. Once published, the organization’s users can securely access all of these legacy Windows apps from the browser, enabling them to utilize the apps on any device. Users can start work on one device and finish on another thanks to Cameyo’s Session Sync technology that provides data resiliency across sessions.

As organizations shift to remote work, VDI, DaaS, and VPNs are straining to keep up, especially when using newer technologies like Chromebooks. Chrome Enterprise has long partnered with Cameyo to make it simple and secure to provide your people with access to the critical legacy Windows applications that they need to stay productive – even if those apps haven’t been web-enabled – directly from your Chrome browser.

Using expensive and complex Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or traditional application virtualization products is far too costly and complex when providing virtual access to applications on Chromebooks. Cameyo is both a Chrome Enterprise and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) partner, and our service seamlessly integrates with G Suite for single sign-on, permissions, cloud storage, printing and more to make both the IT admin and the end-user experience as simple and seamless as possible.Cameyo and Chrome Enterprise

Last month Google hosted its Chrome Enterprise Remote Work Series webinar featuring Cameyo as one of their recommended solutions, and that webinar is now available on-demand here. Cameyo is also featured in the “Apps for every worker” section of Google’s Remote Work solutions page here, and a new Google video published this morning highlights how Cameyo works with Chrome Enterprise guest sessions (that video can be found here).

This new video highlights how easy it is to securely access virtual apps using Cameyo with Chrome Enterprise. By deploying applications through managed guest sessions in Chrome Enterprise, companies can get up and running fast with Cameyo without the need to replicate or create user accounts in the Google Admin console.

One thing that’s interesting to note is that in both the Google webinar and the Remote Work solutions page, Cameyo is one of only three solutions that Google recommends for delivering business-critical apps to any user from the browser. Those three vendors are Cameyo, Citrix, and VMware.

I know what you’re thinking: “Why on earth would you mention the competitors in this post? Why not just highlight the nice things that Google has to say about Cameyo?”

The truth is, the industry’s frustration with legacy solutions like Citrix, VMware, and Nutanix has been instrumental in the growth of Cameyo over the years. These incumbents have a history of trying to solve new-world problems with old-world technology by packaging up decades-old technology and cobbling together “solutions.” Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) has long been the bane of many IT people’s existences (not to mention incredibly costly and complex), and we’ve heard Desktop as a Service (DaaS) referred to (by a well-known industry analyst) as “like VDI, just crudely shoved into the cloud.”

This is why we have customer after customer come to us looking for a replacement for VDI and DaaS. Take Ur&Penn for example – a large retail chain in Sweden with 126 location. They first chose Nutanix, and after weeks of having an outside engineer work to get it set up, they were never able to get it working. They then selected Citrix, and again – after weeks of outside engineers working on the deployment – the cost and complexity were just too much to bear. Which is when they went looking for Citrix alternatives, and discovered Cameyo’s virtual application delivery approach. Cameyo was able to get Ur&Penn up and running within hours instead of weeks/months, at a fraction of the price, and with a seamless user experience.

You can read the full case study here, with the CIO giving a very colorful account of why Nutanix and VDI were not acceptable.

So, as a two-year-old company that is now serving hundreds of organizations around the world, we’re happy to share the stage with incumbents like Citrix and VMware – if for no other reason than being able to help companies that are struggling with VDI and DaaS, but think those are their only options. Just as DaaS was the technology evolution that disrupted VDI, Virtual Application Delivery is the next evolution disrupting both VDI and DaaS by solving the critical pain points of cost, complexity, and security. So if you’re looking for a solution to give all of your people simple, secure access to their business-critical applications on any device, give us a call or start your free trial now. We’d love to show you how much easier life can be for both you and your users!

As we’ve all seen, the urgent increase in remote work has led to a situation where millions of people are working from home on their personal devices (often times, even if they have a corporate laptop). In these instances, the use of VPNs simply provides a secure link between people’s personal devices – which are not corporate-managed and could be infected with malware – and the corporate network. That’s a clear security concern for most IT teams.

In addition to the security issues, VPNs have another major flaw – the user experience. First, there’s the added step and delay involved every time a user logs on, as they need to wait for the VPN to connect before they can start working. Then once connected to the VPN, some of the biggest complaints users have with VPNs are “lag” or connection speed issues, as well as frequent disconnection issues that require re-authentication.

“Anytime a technology introduces frustrations and hurdles – rather than removing them – productivity is deeply impacted,” said Andrew Miller, Co-Founder and CEO of Cameyo. “VPNs are not the solution for remote work from either a security or a productivity perspective.”

Which is precisely why we developed Cameyo NoVPN, to provide your remote workers with secure access to all of their business-critical Windows applications and web apps on any device, from the browser – all without a VPN.

As the World Health Organization (WHO) declares the coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic, MSPs are one of many parties facing big challenges in how to operate their businesses during these times. Many MSPs travel extensively to their customers’ offices but are now finding themselves needing to limit (or cancel altogether) travel so that they don’t risk getting and/or spreading the virus.

Compounding the complexity of this issue is the fact that MSPs are also dealing with a dramatic rise in demand for remote/virtual solutions that will help their customers enable their employees to work from home, too. So not only do MSPs need a way to deliver virtual solutions remotely, but they need to enable their customers to empower thousands of employees – many who have never worked remotely – to be productive from home.MSPs and Remote Work

In today’s post – the latest in our series on enabling remote work during the age of the coronavirus – we’ll be talking about the increased importance of the role of the MSP in helping companies enable remote work, while also working to keep their people safe.

Enabling Productivity, Remotely

One of the key challenges of the sudden increase in remote work is, well – the suddenness. In many cases, IT teams aren’t given any notice of the corporate decision to mandate remote work. In other cases, they’re only given a matter of days to prepare. And because a large percentage (68%) of workers don’t have a corporate laptop, often times IT has to deal with situations where people are being asked to work from home on their personal devices.

And while many of the applications that we all use day-to-day are SaaS-based and accessible from anywhere, the reality is that every business depends on at least a few legacy Windows applications that have yet to be web-enabled.

All of this combined is leading to completely overwhelmed internal IT teams.

The Changing Role of the MSP in the Age of Coronavirus

As a result, these overwhelmed IT are increasingly turning to MSPs for help. And when it comes to being able to quickly and cost-effectively give people access to the critical applications that they need to be productive – on any device, including personal devices – that’s a difficult task for MSPs who also can’t physically go and install software on all of their customers’ employees’ devices at this time.

Let’s break down a few of the key challenges. Since remote work mandates are happening NOW, or have already happened, these businesses need to give their employees access to their critical applications:

    • Quickly – Traditionally, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) or Desktop as a Service (DaaS) product was the go-to options for providing people virtual access to applications. But these products take months to set up and often require software to be installed on people’s devices in order to work. When people need access yesterday, an MSP proposing a solution that will take months to provision is a deal-killer.
    • Cost-Effectively – Both VDI and DaaS solutions require significant investment in either infrastructure, heavy licensing agreements, or both. And when it comes to providing people with remote access to their critical applications, full virtual desktop environments are not just incredibly expensive – they’re also overkill.
    • On Any Device – By “any device”, we’re not just talking about enabling people to access these critical Windows apps on any OS (Windows, Mac, Chromebooks, Linux, etc.) – although that is of course critical. But in the case of the current remote work climate, this also means giving people access to applications on their personal devices. And because these devices are not corporate-owned and managed, that increases the need for a solution that can enable access to applications…
    • Securely – Just giving users access to the applications they need isn’t enough. What if their personal devices are riddled with malware? You must be able to provide a solution that can separate the user’s device/OS from the application layer, so that they can access the applications without posing any threat to the corporate network.

Cameyo Helps MSPs to Enable Remote Work, Remotely

With Cameyo for MSPs, MSPs can easily publish all of the critical applications that a business needs access to within minutes and deliver those applications to all of the customer’s users, on any device, from the browser. This means nothing needs to be installed or updated on each user’s device, giving them instant access to the applications they need to be productive from home – all without the MSP needing to visit the customer’s site. In addition, Cameyo for MSPs provides:

  • Simplified Management – Easily add new customers and deliver the apps they need to any devices within minutes, all from a single pane of glass in your Cameyo for MSP dashboard.
  • Reduced Cost – Eliminate the confusion and high cost of VDI licensing issues, enabling you to deliver a better, more secure solution with a significantly lower cost per user. Get rid of bill shock forever.
  • Eliminate Complexity – Remove the complexity of managing VDI across multiple customer environments, and deliver seamless software updates that are completely transparent to your customers.
  • Enhanced Security – Provide your customers with a virtual application delivery service that is fully encrypted while adding a layer of security by separating applications from the OS. All customer data is protected and private and never resides on a Cameyo server, plus your customers can lock user settings for PCI and data compliance needs.
  • Easy Scalability – No need to set up a different VDI environment for each customer, or manage those many environments. Cameyo for MSPs enables you to easily add new customers in your Cameyo dashboard and get them started in minutes, not weeks or months.

The coronavirus is making remote work an imperative, which in turn is evolving and elevating the role of the MSP as a strategic partner who can help businesses effectively enable remote productivity for all of their people – quickly, cost-effectively, and securely. For those of you who may have missed the news last week, we launched a new version of our platform – Cameyo for Managed Service Provides (MSPs) – to help MSPs build more profitable and scalable virtual application delivery practices for all of their customers. And we’re excited to note that the announcement was received very well by both the media (press coverage below) and the MSP community.

If you’re an MSP reading this, then you’re all too familiar with the fact that – in order to successfully compete – you have to maximize services while reducing your costs to provide customers with the best possible solutions at the lowest price. Prior to Cameyo for MSPs, channel partners and MSPs only had two options if their customers needed access to Windows desktop applications on any device. Cameyo for MSPs

The Old Way

The first option was to use expensive and complex VDI or DaaS products. These products are notoriously hard to implement, are expensive, and are overkill if you just need to run Windows applications to any device and don’t need a full virtual desktop.

The second option was to manage each PC individually, which meant using complex and unreliable scripting or physically going to each device and updating it with the latest version of the Windows application.

Both options are untenable from a cost and management perspective, eating into already tight margins the MSPs rely on for profitability. In addition, many of the partner programs offered by the VDI and DaaS vendors are complex and confusing.

Introducing Cameyo for MSPs

With Cameyo for MSPs, MSPs finally have the ability to simply and cost-effectively deliver Windows applications from the browser to any device and from any environment – cloud, hybrid or on premises. In addition Cameyo for MSPs allows MSPs to manage all customers from a single Cameyo admin console. And with our new SPLA pricing, Cameyo is giving MSPs the flexibility they need to quickly add and delete users and to spin up infrastructure as needed – all while ensuring that they are only billed for the number of users who actually access the service.

Cameyo for MSPs also helps channel partners, and MSPs in particular, differentiate themselves in several ways:

  • Reduced Cost – Cameyo for MSPs significantly lowers the cost of delivering Windows applications to any device from the browser. This gives MSPs the ability to offer the service at a lower price point to their customers while maintaining or increasing margins.
  • Single Pane of Glass – Cameyo for MSPs gives MSPs the ability to manage all of their customers from a single Cameyo administrative portal. MSPs can easily manage users and instantly provide updates to applications their customers are using without the need to go on-site to update customer PCs manually.
  • Savings for the Customer – MSPs can utilize Cameyo for MSPs to help their customers save on infrastructure costs. Because these customers are now running their Windows applications from the browser, they now have the option to purchase less expensive Chromebooks, tablets, Linux devices, etc. if they so choose.

According to a recent survey of 1,600+ MSPs for the 2019 “State of the MSP Report” by Datto (download the full report here), one of the top three problems that MSPs faced in 2019 was revenue growth. Also revealed in that survey, “Productivity Software” came in at #3 in the top products and services offered by MSPs in 2019. Those two stats illustrate a key challenge (and opportunity) for MSPs – the ability to drive additional revenue by simplifying the delivery of critical productivity software.

Every MSP relies on their ability to establish competitive differentiation, and the best way to accomplish that is to provide greater value to their customers. So when it comes to providing customers a better experience with productivity applications, and doing so in a way that can also generate revenue growth for the MSP, what’s standing in the way? MSP Challenges Blog

In general, most MSPs face three key challenges when it comes to revenue generation and the delivery of applications:

  • Delivering value-added services in a cost-effective manner
  • Providing solutions that are simple – both for their customers to use, and for them to manage
  • Empowering customers with flexible solutions that enable them to scale up/down based on business needs

Cost-Effective Services

When it comes to delivering virtual applications, the legacy choices – virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) like Citrix and traditional application virtualization like VMware – have been exceptionally costly to provide and manage. Most MSPs don’t want to introduce complex, pre-cloud technologies as a way to “solve” for application delivery. In addition to the cost and complexity, when it comes to virtual application delivery, VDI is simply overkill.

In order for MSPs to cost-effectively deliver any legacy Windows application to any device, they need a built-for-the-cloud platform that eliminates the need for VDI and application virtualization. Cloud-native virtual application delivery platforms enable MSPs to easily add any applications their customers need and publish those apps only to the users that need access, providing a simple way to offer application delivery at an attractive price, which presents a new revenue opportunity for MSPs.

Simplicity (for MSPs AND their Customers)

No MSP wants to introduce complexity into any deal. Not only because they are the ones who have to deal with that complexity, but because customers turn to their MSPs to help them reduce complexity. That is a key part of the value proposition of most MSPs. So when it comes to providing virtual access to the productivity applications that customers rely on, MSPs need to prioritize solutions that enable a simple, seamless user experience. Better access to their productivity applications on any device AND a better user experience is the type of value-add that customers are looking for from their MSP.

Similarly, that simplicity needs to carry over to the MSP. Complexity gets in the way of an MSP being able to sell. If a solution provides a good end-user experience but is a nightmare to manage for the MSP, then that is not a viable long-term solution. Some virtual application delivery platforms can enable MSPs to onboard customers and publish applications to them within minutes, with fully-automated billing to make the entire process as simple as possible.

Flexibility to Meet Changing Customer Needs

In addition to delivering solutions that are cost-effective and simple, MSPs also need to provide solutions that enable their customers to scale up and down as their business needs change. Consider a situation where a customer starts with a trial or a proof of concept so that they can test out delivering applications to 50 users on various devices/OSs. MSPs need platforms and solutions that are flexible enough to quickly and easily allow customers to expand to thousands of users without friction. Likewise, that same customer should be able to reduce their number of users if their needs change.

VDI and application virtualization product require significant infrastructure investments which are not only costly, but they are inflexible. Virtual application delivery platforms enable MSPs to quickly get their customers up and running, with the ultimate in flexibility to ensure the customer is always able to scale as needed with limited involvement from the MSP.

Are you an MSP facing these challenges? How are you addressing them today? And what other key challenges are you dealing with?
